In Memory of Lynne Burgess

Untitled, Lynne Burgess
Oil on Paper, 2003

I was saddened to learn of the death of a fellow artist today. Lynne was a special person who loved life, and I will always remember her encouraging ways. It was Lynne who taught me about gesso, and most of my paintings are now heavily textured with gesso. Many artists don't share their trade secrets, but Lynne was not that way and for that I am glad and appreciative. The above image is a small painting that she did in 2003..one that she gave to me when I was visiting her in her 5-Points studio. I have two other LB originals in my collection. Lynne will be missed, but not forgotten.
