This is my 6th platter that I have completed in the last 7 years for this annual event. The auction will take place on April 24, 2010. Proceeds from the platter auction will benefit the AIDS Benefit Foundation of South Carolina.

Artist's Profile

Lee Monts is a Christian artist who primarily creates contemporary acrylic paintings on canvas, paper and board. A native of Chapin, South Carolina, his formal education is in geology. He has been a resident of Columbia, South Carolina, since 1987 and is employed full time by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. Lee began painting in 2002 and has had no formal art training. He considers his talent to be a gift from God and hopes that his art brings glory to the Lord. His work has been featured at Cameo Fine Art Gallery (Vista Lights 2003, Artista Vista 2004); Dining With Friends (2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009); Idylwild Arts Gallery (May 2004, November 2004, December 2004); South Carolina State Fair Juried Professional Fine Art Show (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009); InspirArte (October 2004); About Face Group Show at Gallery 80808 (October 2004); About Face Showcase at the Columbia Museum of Art (April-June 2005); ArtCan Studio and Gallery (December 2004); Mr. Friendly's New Southern Cafe' (February-June 2004); The Bus Stop Gallery (February 2005, September 2005, December 2005, March 2006, September 2006, January 2007, November 2007); South Carolina Philharmonic juried show "Pictures at an Exhibition" at Gallery 80808 (April-May 2005); South Carolina Philharmonic Show "Painted Violins" (2006, 2008); "An Evening in the Arts" in Charleston, SC (September 2007); O’Connor Design Firm (May 2007, December 2007); the Elizabeth O’Neill Verner Governor’s Awards for the Arts juried art sale (April 2008); Columbia Metropolitan Magazine Dream Home (2009); Group Show of the Artists’ Round Table at Gallery 80808 (September 2009); Art with a Heart (September 2009); Verve Fine Interiors (2005 - ongoing); The Gallery at DuPre (Vista Lights 2008, Artista Vista 2009, Vista Lights 2009, ongoing); Eye Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia (November 2009 – ongoing); and Wink Studio and Gallery (January 2010 - ongoing). “Testimony”, the artist’s premier solo show was on exhibit July 23 – August 21, 2009, at the Gallery at DuPre in Columbia, SC. A feature article by nationally known writer Cynthia Boiter titled “Artist come lately…” appeared in the January 2010 issue of Lake Murray Magazine and Northeast Columbia Magazine. The artist was selected as one of six artists for Street Gallery III, a rotating billboard project in 2010 sponsored by the Cultural Council of Richland and Lexington Counties and Lamar Advertizing.
