Verner Awards Art Sale

The art sale was held this morning at the Marriott Hotel. It was a very nice event, and I was very impressed with how well the art was displayed. I am very glad that I was a part of it. Two of my 6" x 6" paintings sold...one was purchased by a member of the SC Arts Commission Board, and as I discovered later, the daughter of a lady who watched me grow up at St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Chapin....the other was purchased by a member of the SC Arts Foundation Board. I am flattered that my work was purchased by these board members who are involved with supporting the arts in our state. One of the best parts of the day was having a fellow artist tell me how much she enjoys my blog. She said it was refreshing how I discuss my faith and how I write in such a positive manner...she went on to tell one of the board members that there is no arrogance in my blog. I used that opportunity to tell them that I consider my talent as a gift from God and that I give Him all the glory. I got to share my faith with several people viewing my art, and I am glad that I had that opportunity! I surely hope I will get to participate in the event next year.

Violin Result

The Painted Violins fundraiser ended Saturday night. I am thankful to report that "Remembrance Strings" was one of the violins that was purchased. I met the couple at City Art during the pre-auction last Thursday night, and they came back Saturday night and placed the winning bid. They were a lovely couple, and I very much enjoyed talking to them. Most importantly, I was able to explain the importance in the design since my artist statement had been truncated in the catalogue. I hope the violin will bring them much joy and many blessings from the Lord as they explain the symbolism to those who see it displayed in their home. Soli Deo Gloria!

Since Someone Asked

I submitted five paintings for the upcoming Verner Awards Art Sale that will be held on April 16. Hopefully they will all be included in the show. The ones submitted are:

"Within Moments" 24" x 30"
"Soul Searching" 16" x 16"
"Restless" 12" x 12"
"The Long Goodbye to Winter" 6" x 6"
"Seeking Balance" 6" x 6"

I could hyperlink each painting, but I think I will make you search for them on the blog...perhaps you will see something you missed on an earlier visit.

Also, the pre-auction for the violins will be held this Thursday night at City Art in the Vista between 6:00 and 9:00 PM. The auction will close at the end of intermission during the Symphony on Saturday night. I hope the violin will find a good home! Bids start at $300.00!
