In the Studio

After a several day break from the studio, today I completed a 12" x 24" vertical and have made a lot of progress on a 36" x 48" horizontal. I am in my sepia photograph mood so both paintings are primarily shades of raw umber. The 12" x 24" has three little dots of cadmium red medium hue....I haven't named it yet but I will post it as soon as I photograph and name it. The large painting so far doesn't have any pops of color yet but it will probably be the same red or perhaps cobalt teal...we'll see.

Life Verse

"Therefore having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God. And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us" - Romans 5:1-5

"Looking Back" and "Moving Forward"

These two 12"x12"x3" paintings were recently placed in a home in Florence, SC by designer Vicki Taber of Verve Interiors. These two paintings resulted in a commissioned 24"x36" painting to complement the room.

Why 323 ART?

I have always considered my talent to be a gift from God. It is the only way I can explain it. I have never been trained as an artist...the creativity has always come naturally to me and the result of what you have seen or will be seeing all comes from His grace and time spent "doing" and learning from the process.

As God has blessed me with the talent, I want to use my art as a witness to Him. While art is a matter of taste, purely subjective to the viewer, I hope that my paintings will bring God glory. It is when I am painting that I often feel closest to Him.

The blog title, 323 Art, represents Colossians 3:23 "And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men."

Check back frequently to see what God does with me...in the art and in my walk with Him.

Coming Soon

As God has been growing my art business lately, I thought it was time to start posting some images on the web....so, you can expect to see some paintings soon. I am busy preparing new works for an upcoming group show at the Bus Stop Gallery. Verve Interiors has also sold everything I have given them so they need new works! I have just entered two paintings into the SC State Fair, my fourth year participating, and hopefully both will be juried into the show...should know the results by midnight on October 3. At any rate, creating is keeping me busy and God has been blessing me greatly!
