Exciting News!

"Tender Mercies" -starting bid of $75

"Up From Nothing" - starting bid of $100

"The Limitations of Nature" - starting bid of $200

I just learned that all 3 of my submissions for the Contemporaries' Artist of the Year Auction and Soiree were accepted. Over 230 entries were received this year. This event will take place on May 13th at 7:00pm at the Columbia Museum of art. During the soiree and auction, people will bid on over 125 pieces of art, enjoy free drinks and food along with music and break dancers. Admittance is free for Contemporaries' members and $30 for the general public. (To become a contemporaries member you can go to www.columbiamuseum.org). This is an opportunity to possibly obtain one of my paintings at a lower than normal retail price (maximum starting bids were set at $300 but lower starting bids often result in a higher sales amount...come start a bidding war)! Hope to see you at the event! You can also learn more at www.cayevent.com

Getting Ready

Sometimes a painting will "just happen" and there is nothing better than getting a great result from a spontaneous creative session. Getting ready for a show never "just happens" and that is where I am now. Artista Vista, the big celebrated art crawl in the Vista, opens a week from tomorrow night on April 22....it is the 19th annual Artista Vista. I will be showing at the Gallery at DuPre in the alley at 807 Gervais. So, I am finishing off the edges of the canvases (many artists skip this), adding hardware and getting the pieces wired for hanging, working on labels, and putting the clear coat on the surface. A lot of work goes into getting art ready for a show. So, as you enjoy Artista Vista this year, think about the work and passion that each artist puts into the gift that has been entrusted to him or her. Come out and see us, give us feedback, ask about our inspiration and methods, and most importantly, just support us! Purchases are great, but it is the support that keeps us -at least me - going! And remember, Artista Vista runs next Thursday night from 5:00-9:00 PM. Galleries will be open regular hours on Friday and Saturday! I am looking forward to seeing you there!

This painting finally has a name...

"So It Goes"
24" x 24" - Acrylic on Canvas
This was painted almost a month or so ago, but I could never come up with a title for it ...the title came to me today out of the blue, and "so it goes".
